Nervous, excited, high motivated and ambitious Sailors, hauling winds, which produce the Pozo typical noise. That´s the usual ambience before the PWA Worldcup at Pozo Izquierdo, usually. This time we could watch people passing by on their way to catch some fish, PWA Sailors with their Towels on the way for another Sunbath and one or two guys with their Standup Paddle Surfboards. The Kalima winds had also arrived at one of world´s most extreme windsurf Spots and left nothing but Heat behind and destroyed all hopes for some nice Trainingsessions before the Competition start, but also gave the Riders some time to recover from their last Competitions and to prepare their new Gear.

Tim efor Action. After some great Waves during the Registration day, the Headjudge decided to start the Event with Waveriding. Good Decision ! With still not too strong winds and waves, the Competition started with no surprises in the first round. But already round two meant goodbye to Bignames like Albeau, Swift, Volwater, Orjan Jensen, Kevin Pritchard and Levi Siver, who got kicked out by 15 year old Phillip Koester. This guy managed to get all eyes on the beach focussed only on him already during the Training Sessions. Before Siver he kicked out Regis Bouron and later also Alex Mussolini. Only two times Pozo Winner Victor Fernandez managed to stopp really impressive Sailing Koester, who performed perfect powerfull waverides, sick wavemoves and Jumps like Backloops, tweaked Pushloops, Tweaked Pushloop into Forward and the first perfect Double Loop of this Event. But also Fernandez showed that he wants to get the third titke here in Pozo and with a really Powerfull Heat and Waverides including all his Trademark Wavemoves like the superhigh Shaka into the Wave and Takas, he managed to once again get into the Final, also by beating Ricardo Campello in the semifinal. Campello didn´t really manage to perform in his innovative Style solid enough, but showed that he indeed is willing to fight also for the Wavecrown one day. A big surprise was Fernandez opponent in the Final. Dani Bruch, who managed to kick out Kauli Seadi in the Quarterfinals and than Nik Baker in the Semifinals. Unluckily the conditions went down for the big final and both Sailors had trouble finding good waves and ramps. Fernandez proofed that he is one of the best in all conditions and he found better waves for his win of this Single Elimination. Campello managed to win the small final and finished third.

Women Wave. Actually year after year the same routine. In Freestyle Sara Quita and LAure Treboux maybe passed the Moreno Twins already, but here in Pozo and in Waves they´re still really hard to beat and no wonder they both went straight into the final. Still impressing how Laure Treboux also sailed in Waves, even kicked out Wave expert Uli Hölzl. The Final was pro Daida, better Jumps and more solid Waverides in also pretty messy getting waves.

Nine more days to go.... stay tuned for more Wave, Slalom and Freestyle...
