Day 8 - We left the Beach yesterday with nice waves and hauling winds behind, but curious about today, where the wind should be even stronger and the waves higher for the Wave Double Elimination and the Finals. Victor Fernandez, Dani Bruch, Ricardo Campello, Kauli Seadi and co showed yesterday already what they are capable of.

Coming to the Beach this morning we were impressed by flying water and Waves... That would be a sick Wave Competition today, that was sure and not only after Klaas Voget performed a super super high Backloop in his warm up session. First up today was Pozo Local Jonas Ceballos, who was just waiting for those conditions, and right when the first green flagg of the day came up, he catapulted himself into a huge huge stalled forward Loop, followed by an even higher Backloop. Sick. Also his Waveriding was super radical today and made him advance some Heats before he got stopped by frenchie Julien Taboulet, who managed to impresse with massive Waverides and solid jumping. In Taboulet´s next Heat he also eliminated young and nervous Philip Koester. His time will come for sure !! German Klaas Voget showed today that he indeed became one of world´s top wavesailors by beating Robby Swift and Brawzinho. Only worldchamp Kauli Seadi managed to stopp the blonde german. Kauli was on warpass... after Taboulet he eliminated also Nik Baker to than face his friend Ricardo Campello. Campello just seems to love these conditions. With huge jumps and radical Waverides he stopped Kauli and than kicked Dani Bruch off his second position. Bruch seemed totally overpowered and crashed almost all his jumps. It all came down to the Final of the two Jump Monsters, Victor Fernandez and Ricardo Campello. Fernandez started with a Forward which made the one of Ceballos in the early morning look small, followed by an even higher Backloop and one foot one hand Backloop. Campello nailed three Double Loops before he started with his Backloops and tweaked Pushloops. Fernandez got a Waveride with a nice goiter and than took off into orbit with a massive aerial off the lip. That was his Heat for sure and so after 2006 and 2007 he also won the 2008 PWA Pozo Waveriding.

Also the women showed her skills in those extreme conditions were the men were stucked on their 3,3 sails. Nice waverides, big Loops, Backloops and Pushloops. Especially Silivia Alba was on fire, won five Heats and was than stopped by Karin Jaggi. But also for Jaggi the Competition ended in her next Heat against strong Iballa Moreno and once again the Final in Pozo had to be sailed by the two Pozo Locals Daida and Iballa Moreno. Iballa had a great start with some Backloops and one handed Backloops, but Daida got stronger and stronger, showed radical Waverides and her Pushloop Table Top and some nice Backloops. Heat for Daida !

Waveriding has finished now, tomoorow is the last day and might become a Slalom only day, since the Freestyle ladies have already finished two entire Double Eliminations...
